In an oft-quoted statistic from the Calorie Control Council, an association representing producers of reduced-calorie foods and beverages, the average American consumes a total of 4,500 calories and a heart-stopping (perhaps literally) 229 grams of fat during Thanksgiving dinner. What’s the turkey without a whole lot of stuffing and gravy? And gluttony may be one of the seven deadly sins, but then again, that pecan pie is positively killer. So this is the year when you’re going to be careful at Thanksgiving dinner.
